Oh Snap: Check Out This R/C Rubber Band Race Car
I've seen a lot of remote controlled cars in my day - I used to play with them a lot when I was a kid - but thanks to the invention of 3D printers, they're becoming cooler than ever. OhGizmo pointed us to this awesome new vehicle called the Cirin, but this is no normal RC car - it's powered by nothing more than a rubber band, tightly wound into 8-inch loops that allowed it to travel 500 feet at speeds of up to 30 miles per hour. That's pretty damn impressive.
It was created by students Max Greenberg, Sameer Yeleswarapu, and Ian Cullimore at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, and although they didn't win the race they created it for, they did win an award for best design, build, and approach. Not too shabby.
