Olivia Wilde and Cooper Hoffman Dive Into a Twisted World of Kinky Desire in the Trailer for I WANT YOUR SEX
Magnolia Pictures has unveiled the first trailer for director Gregg Araki’s latest dark comedy, I Want Your Sex, and it offers a glimpse into a strange, seductive, and increasingly dangerous world where fantasy and obsession collide.
The film made its debut at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, earning largely positive reactions from critics who embraced its unpredictable energy, eccentric humor, and fearless approach to sexuality and power dynamics.
Set in Los Angeles, the story follows Elliot, played by Cooper Hoffman, a young man whose life takes an unexpected turn when he lands a job working for renowned artist and provocateur Erika Tracy, played by Olivia Wilde.
For Elliot, it initially feels like a dream opportunity. That dream becomes even more surreal when Erika chooses him to serve as her sexual muse.
What begins as an exciting new chapter soon evolves into something much more complicated as Elliot is pulled into Erika's orbit and introduced to a world filled with desire, manipulation, obsession, betrayal, and even murder.
The film's official synopsis reads: "When fresh-faced Elliot (Cooper Hoffman) lands an exciting job for renowned artist, icon and provocateur Erika Tracy (Olivia Wilde), all his fantasies come true as Erika surprisingly taps him to become her sexual muse.
“But Elliot soon finds himself out of his depth as Erika takes him on a journey more profound than he ever could have imagined, into a world of sex, obsession, power, betrayal and murder."
The movie also stars Charli XCX, Daveed Diggs, Mason Gooding, Chase Sui Wonders, Margaret Cho, and Johnny Knoxville.
The film is described as "hilarious, tender, and nuanced in how it tackles the differences between how older and younger generations embrace their sexual desires." Judging by the trailer, it will offer a funny, unsettling, provocative, and packed with the kind of chaotic energy that has defined much of his career.
Araki directed the film from a screenplay he co-wrote with Karley Sciortino. The filmmaker's previous credits include Three Bewildered People in the Night, The Long Weekend (O' Despair), The Living End, Totally F**ed Up, The Doom Generation, Nowhere, Splendor, Mysterious Skin, Smiley Face, Kaboom, and White Bird in a Blizzard.
After making its Sundance debut earlier this year, I Want Your Sex is now set to arrive in select U.S. theaters on July 31, 2026.
