Olivia Wilde Hires JOJO RABBIT Star Thomasin McKenzie to Play Olympian Kerri Strug in Biopic PERFECT
Olivia Wilde is not slowing down when it comes to her directing career. After making her 2019 feature directorial debut with Booksmart, she quickly booked the film Don’t Worry Darling, a thriller with an all-star cast. Then she locked in a deal to make a Sony/Marvel movie, and now we have news about her Olympic biopic Perfect, which will follow the career of gold medal gymnast Kerri Strug.
Wilde has found her star in Thomasin McKenzie, known for her roles in Leave No Trace and Jojo Rabbit. Wilde will direct from a script by Ronnie Sandahl. The pic is described as “an intimate and unflinching portrait of grit and determination, Perfect charts the story behind Kerri Strug’s historic Olympic vault to secure America’s first ever gymnastics team gold.”
McKenzie will next be seen in the drama The Power of the Dog alongside Kirsten Dunst, Jesse Plemons, and Benedict Cumberbatch, then The Justice of Bunny King, the M. Night Shyamalan thriller Old, and the Edgar Wright horror thriller Last Night in Soho alongside Anya Taylor-Joy and Matt Smith.
