ONCE UPON A RIVER Trailer Tells a Midwestern Gothic Americana Story
I’ve got a trailer here for you to watch for a wonderful-looking film titled Once Upon a River, which is said to tell a midwestern gothic Americana story.
The movie is based on Bonnie Jo Campbell's novel, and it tells the story of Native American teenager named Margo Crane in 1970s rural Michigan. “After enduring a series of traumas and tragedies, Margo (Kenadi DelaCerna) sets out on an odyssey on the Stark River in search of her estranged mother. On the water, Margo encounters friends, foes, wonders, and dangers; navigating life on her own, she comes to understand her potential, all while healing the wounds of her past.”
The movie comes from Haroula Rose, who is making her directorial debut. The movie stars Kenadi DelaCerna, with John Ashton, Tatanka Means, Ajuawak Kapashesit, Lindsay Pulsipher, and Josephine Decker.
This looks like a wonderfully authentic and heartfelt coming-of-age story. Once Upon a River will be released in select theaters and in virtual cinemas starting on September 30th.
