ONE PUNCH MAN: A HERO NOBODY KNOWS Closed Beta Impressions
I have played an unusual amount of anime, 3D fighting games this year. From crazy good visuals to horrible voice acting and slick movements, I’ve seen quite the variety. However, One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows surprisingly reflects its title, a game that nobody really knows about, but is none the less a great thing.
This game doesn’t boast a super huge cast, as it is limited to the world of One Punch Man, but there is a large enough variety in fighters to keep things fresh. There is one character, Saitama, the protagonist of One Punch Man, that is king above all and can kill opponents in one hit. So with this problem, how can a developer make a game fair? He is always late to the party.
The matches are all 3v3 battles, but if a player chooses Saitama, he will not arrive for 150 seconds, this leaves the player in a 2v3 match until Saitama can arrive. This is a simple, yet very interesting twist. Can I kill my opponent before Saitama comes? Can I last long enough for Saitama to win the battle?
As a person is waiting for Saitama and does a significant amount of damage, Saitama speeds up a little bit and shaves off a few seconds from his ETA. This dynamic between choosing Saitama or not brings a huge sense of urgency to the already smooth action game that does a good job of keeping the battles interesting with various specials and simple block/dodge mechanics.
There is no release date for the game yet, but we are very excited to take the one punch kills to a new level with fun, new mechanics whenever One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows arrives.
