Oreo Confirms Collaboration With POKEMON

Oreo has finally confirmed everyone’s suspicions that they are teaming up with Pokémon to create Limited Edition Pokémon x OREO cookie packs. Their announcement came via a video made with black and white cookies featuring a trainer trying to catch a Pikachu.

This collection will contain 16 different Pokémon: Sandshrew, Mew, Sableye, Bulbasaur, Lapras, Cyndaquil, Pikachu, Dratini, Jigglypuff, Squirtle, Charmander, Snivy, Piplup, Rowlet, Grookie, and Pancham. Just like in the games, some of these Pokémon will be more difficult to find than others as each pack will be filled with a random assortment of cookies.

Personally, I don’t see the point of that, are people supposed to collect and then never eat some of these Oreo cookies? There will also be an art installation on Venice Beach Boardwalk in Los Angeles, CA from September 7 - October 3. The installation will include over 8,000 3D replicas of the Pokémon x OREO Cookies placed on an 8 H’ x 22’ W mural to create a larger-than-life, Pikachu-themed design.

If you can’t make it in person to see, you can follow the Oreo social media channels for updates and the final reveal. What do you think about this collaboration? I wish that they could do different colored fillings depending on the type of Pokémon that is embossed on the cookie because I think it would be more fun.

I don’t like the rarity thing when it comes to food items you’re supposed to eat, I personally wouldn’t buy a bunch of packs of these in order to find the elusive Mew, but maybe true collectors will.
