Original GHOST IN THE SHELL Is Coming Back to Theaters Before the Live-Action Remake Arrives

I've never seen Mamoru Oshii's classic 1995 anime Ghost in the Shell. But with Paramount's live-action American remake coming out in March with Scarlett Johansson starring, it seems like a pretty good time to catch up with it.

Deadline reports that Lionsgate is bringing the original film back for a limited theatrical run in 110 theaters on February 7th and 8th. There's also good news for those of you who absolutely hate reading subtitles. If you get a chance to check out the theatrical rerelease, you'll be able to choose how you see it: while the original Japanese dialogue with subtitles is an option, you could choose to see it with an English dub.

If you're not interested in seeing it on the big screen, Lionsgate is also reportedly preparing a "deluxe Blu-ray and DVD collector's edition" of the anime that will hit shelves on March 7th. The ScarJo version, directed by Rupert Sanders, arrives in theaters on March 31, 2017.
