Original LORD OF THE RINGS Actor Bernard Hill Blasts RINGS OF POWER for Being a "Money Making Venture"
Bernard Hill, the actor who played King Théoden in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings films, is not a fan of Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, and he doesn’t ever have to watch it to know he doesn’t like it.
During a recent interview with Metro, the actor was asked if he watched The Rings of Power and snapped back, “No, not interested.” He went on to add, “It’s a money-making venture, and I’m not interested in watching that or being in it.”
But, he did wish the cast and crew the best of luck, even though he doesn’t acknowledge it as being the real thing. He said: “Good luck to them and all that stuff but it’s not like the real thing.” Comments like this just make me laugh, but I get it.
Hill was also asked if The Lord of the Rings franchise should’ve ended after Peter Jackson finished shooting his original trilogy with The Return of the King, to which Hill responded, “Completely, yes.” He then addressed The Hobbit films saying: “I think they were pushing it when they made The Hobbit. The Hobbit’s a tiny book.’ They did it well – they did it really, really well. They expanded it [but] I think you can only stretch a piece of elastic so far. I think they managed it in The Hobbit because there were some really good things in The Hobbit without a doubt.”
Well, if he liked The Hobbit, he should enjoy The Rings of Power because that series is better than those Hobbit films. As for cash grabs, almost everything that Hollywood is producing these days is a cash grab! The studios all want to make money! Might as well enjoy watching the good projects that are made in the cash-grabbing system, and The Rings of Power is good!
The series got great reviews. It’s a shame that Hill won’t watch it, but to each their own!
