Original Trailer For Ridley Scott's 1979 Sci-Fi Horror Film ALIEN
It’s interesting and fun to go back and watch older original trailers for some of our favorite movies. This week’s retro trailer is for Ridley Scott’s classic 1979 horror thriller Alien.
It’s fun to think about what audiences were thinking in the late 70s when they were sitting in theaters watching this trailer for the first time. They had no idea how this movie was going to change things.
The story follows the crew of the commercial spaceship Nostromo, who respond to a distress signal on a distant planet. Upon investigating, they discover a derelict alien spacecraft and a chamber filled with mysterious eggs. One of the crew members, Kane, becomes the unwitting host for a parasitic extraterrestrial creature that later evolves into the iconic and terrifying Xenomorph.
As the crew grapples with the deadly threat aboard their ship, a tense atmosphere of isolation, suspense, and claustrophobia builds, leading to a relentless battle for survival against an adversary that is as cunning as it is deadly.
Alien is celebrated for its awesome blend of horror and science fiction, marked by innovative visual effects, atmospheric tension, and H.R. Giger's otherworldly creature design. The film's success lies not only in its ability to terrify audiences but also in its subversion of traditional gender roles, with Sigourney Weaver's character, Ellen Ripley, emerging as a resilient and resourceful heroine.
