Orlando Bloom Set to Play Rycroft Philostrate in a New Fantasy Crime Series Called CARNIVAL ROW
Orlando Bloom is set to star in a new fantasy crime series for Amazon Studios called Carnival Row. He will play a police inspector named Rycroft Philostrate, which, you have to admit, is a pretty weird name. This sounds like a pretty awesome show, though! Here's a description:
The series takes place in a neo-Victorian city in which mythical creatures, fleeing their war-torn homeland, have gathered. Tensions are simmering between citizens and the growing immigrant population. Bloom will play Rycroft Philostrate, a police inspector investigating the murder of a faerie showgirl on Carnival Row. Rycroft is not supposed to care about the death of another faerish refugee, but he does, and getting to the bottom of what happened to her will come at a big cost.
I'd totally watch this! This will be Bloom's first starring role in a TV series. The actor is best known for starring in the Pirates of the Caribbean and Lord of the Rings franchises. Some of his other film credits include Black Hawk Down, Elizabethtown, Troy, and Kingdom of Heaven.
We don't see as much of Bloom in the movies as we used to, but it good to see that he's landed a cool new project! Carnival Row will have an eight-episode run in its first season. it was originally supposed to be a movie, the script for which was written eleven years ago by Travis Beacham (Pacific Rim). He will serve as an executive producer on the project.
The series is scheduled to begin filming this fall for a 2019 premiere.
