Oscar Isaac Wants to Play Solid Snake in a METAL GEAR SOLID Movie

Oscar Isaac taking on the role of Solid Snake in a Metal Gear Solid movie? Hell, yeah! I’d like to see that! Isaac is a great actor and he’s got the look of badassery to pull it off.

Kong: Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts is currently developing the feature film version of the film. This guy loves the franchise and I’ve liked everything that he’s had to say about how he wants to handle the adaptation. I hope that he is able to pull it off and while he hasn’t started casting the movie yet, he should definitely consider Isaac.

The actor recently expressed his interest in playing the role in a recent interview with IGN. When asked which movie adaptation of a video game he would like to be involved with, Isaac said, "Metal Gear Solid, that's the one. I'm throwing my hat in for that one."

Last year, digital artist BossLogic actually created a piece of fan art showing us what Isaac would look like as Solid Snake. In case you missed that, I included it here:

I think he would make a solid fit, but what do you all think? Would you like to see Oscar Isaac play Solid Snake? If not, who would you cast in the role?

When previously talking about the adaptation, Vogt-Roberts said that he is shooting for an R-rating. He wants to bring the full-on insanity of Hideo Kojima's game to the film.

"It’s about doing it for a price so you can make the riskier, balls-to-the-wall, Kojima-san version of it."

The director also talked about the script that has been written for the movie, and he loves what he has so far:

"Even if I wasn’t involved in this movie I would read that script and say, ‘Holy shit.' It represents a different approach to a video game movie. It represents a different approach to how a three-act structure is put on screen.”

Vogt-Roberts also explained that he’s figured out a way to make it work on-screen, saying:

"The thing about Metal Gear is it’s intentionally sprawling and it’s intentionally dense. It’d be super easy to do one sliver of it or do too much at once. And we’ve spent the last little bit really trying to figure out, to me, the most Kojima-san inspired way to tackle as much of that story through a device that I think allows you to tap in…how to put this without spoiling it?…regardless, we have a device that I think allows us to respect the breadth of the franchise, respect the sprawling nature of the franchise, respect the somewhat convoluted nature of the franchise at times. But to still show you the mirrors. What I mean by that is all those timelines fundamentally exist because they show the repetition of war throughout time. They show the repetition and the cycle of pain throughout time. So it ’s almost impossible to tell just one story now. You need the full throughline of what this game is about."

Do you like what the filmmaker is planning for this film? Do you think he’ll be able to pull it off and give the fans a film that they will love?
