Oscar Nominations Announced and JOKER Leads the Pack with 11 Noms

The nominations for the 92nd Oscars were announced by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and as we expected, Joker was showered with nominations. In fact, it leads the packed with 11 nominations including Best Picture, Best Actor, and Best Director.

Following Joker there were Sam Mendes 1917, Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman, and Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, each nabbing 10 nominations. All of those are nominated for Best Picture along with Ford v Ferrari, Jojo Rabbit, Little Women, Marriage Story, and Parasite, which was also nominated for Best International Feature.

I’m ultimately happy with the list of Best Picture noms. While Hollywood has been trying to make things more diverse in the awards ceremony, you’ll find that a lot of people on social media are quick to point out the lack of diversity this year. Now, a record 62 women were nominated this year, but Little Women director Greta Gerwig was snubbed in the directors category, which is a shame because she did an incredible job helming that film! I thought for sure she would get the nomination.

Other notable snubs include Adam Sandler for his role in Uncut Gems, and Roman Griffin Davis for his role in Jojo Rabbit. Both deserved Best Actor noms.

You’ll find that Scarlett Johansson was nominated twice for Lead Actress for Marriage Story and Supporting Actress for Jojo Rabbit. Todd Phillips (Joker), Quentin Tarantino (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) and Bong Joon-Ho (Parasite) are also nominated in both Directing and screenplay categories. Then there’s producer Emma Tillinger Koskoff, who has two Best Picture noms in the same year with Joker and The Irishman.

The winners will be unveiled February 9th at the 92nd Academy Awards live on ABC from the Dolby Theater at Hollywood & Highland. Check out the full list of nominations below and let us know what you think. Are you happy with the noms are there any other big snubs that you noticed? WHho do you think will win?
