Oscar Winner Sally Field Joins the Cast of Film SPOILER ALERT Alongside Ben Aldridge and Jim Parsons
Oscar-winning actress Sally Field (Steel Magnolias, Forrest Gump, Maniac, Dispatches From Elsewhere) has joined the cast of the film Spoiler Alert, based on the memoir of journalist Michael Ausiello. The story is described as “a tragicomic love story.” She joins Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory, The Normal Heart, The Boys in the Band) and Ben Aldridge (Fleabag, Pennyworth) in the pic. It is being directed by Michael Showalter (The Big Sick, The Lovebirds), from a screenplay by David Marshall Grant, Dan Savage, and Ausiello.
“In his 2017 memoir, Ausiello (played by Parsons in the film) unpacks the emotional maelstrom into which his relationship was plunged in the 11 months that took his partner, photographer Kit (Aldridge), from his diagnosis with terminal cancer to his passing. Interwoven in the narrative are glimpses of the roller-coaster ride that was the couple’s 14-year romance.”
Field will play Kit’s mother, Marilyn.
Showalter and Field are reteaming after previously collaborating on Hello, My Name Is Doris, the 2015 indie comedy hit starring Field and helmed and co-written by Showalter.
This is a great project for Field. She’s a fantastic actress, and this sounds like a solid story and role for her to sink into. Filming on Spoiler Alert is set to begin in the fall in New York City.
