OUTRIDERS to Launch in 2021 with Cross-Play Support
Outriders is an upcoming RPG-shooter from People Can Fly and Square Enix External Studios. The game looks pretty sick, and I’m excited to give it a go. Unfortunately, it looks like there’s going to be a slight delay. We’ve been told in the past that the game would release Holiday 2020. However, it was recently revealed that the game will officially launch on February 2, 2021. It’s not a big delay and I’m sure fans are disappointed they won’t be able to play over Winter Break, but on the plus side, it’s only a couple of months later.
Another awesome piece of news is that Outriders will support full cross-play support and free next-gen upgrades for players. This means that players across PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series will all be able to play together. If you get the game on PS4 or Xbox One, you’ll get a free upgrade to the PS5 or Xbox Series respectively. Jon Brooke of Square Enix External Studios said:
We’re very happy to announce that we can offer full cross-play support and a free next-gen upgrade plan for OUTRIDERS players. The great thing about this system is that even if you’re not picking up your PS5 or XSX quite yet, we’ve got you covered and there’s no need to wait. If you buy the current-gen version of OUTRIDERS, we’ll give you the next-gen version for free.
Lee Singleton of Square Enix External Studios added:
We’re taking a little bit longer to ensure players have the best possible experience with OUTRIDERS, we’re also including new features like Cross-Play which will make our game much more accessible on all platforms.
Are you excited to play Outriders in February?
