OVER MY DEAD BODY Trailer Teases a Savage Marriage Showdown With Samara Weaving and Jason Segel
IFC has unleashed the first trailer for Over Your Dead Body, a savage action comedy from director Jorma Taccone, and it looks like an absolute blast.
If this trailer is any indication, we’re in for a wild, chaotic ride filled with scheming spouses, cabin carnage, and a whole lot of twisted laughs.
The movie follows a married couple who escape to a remote cabin in a last-ditch effort to fix their relationship. The problem? They’re both secretly planning to kill each other.
As IFC puts it: “A dysfunctional couple head to a remote cabin to supposedly reconnect, but each has secret plans to kill the other.” Then the footage cranks things up into full-blown mayhem.
The studio describes it as “a dark, twisted, and riotous action comedy, with a killer cast – a perfect recipe to delight audiences on the big screen.” The tone feels more explosive action comedy than straight horror, and the energy almost gives off chaotic Splitsville vibes. It looks fast, ridiculous, and dangerously fun.
Leading the madness are Samara Weaving and Jason Segel, who play the warring couple at the center of the story. Weaving continues her streak of starring in offbeat genre fare, while Segel appears to be leaning hard into the absurdity of it all.
The supporting cast also includes Timothy Olyphant, Juliette Lewis, Paul Guilfoyle, and Keith Jardine.
Taccone, known for directing MacGruber and Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, clearly hasn’t lost his appetite for outrageous comedy. The screenplay comes from Nick Kocher and Brian McElhaney.
The film is set to premiere at the 2026 SXSW Film Festival in March before hitting theaters nationwide on April 24th, 2026.
