Owen Wilson Discusses Marvel's LOKI and How Tom Hiddleston Prepared Him
Everything that we know about Marvel’s upcoming Loki series pretty much comes from the first trailer that was released. That trailer generated a lot of excitement and I’m super stoked about seeing what this story gives us and how it will tie in and affect the MCU.
Owen Wilson plays a character named Mobius M. Mobius in the show, but the details of his character are still shrouded in mystery. The actor recently appeared on The Jess Cagle Show, and while there, he shed a little light on his character and also revealed how he was given a crash course into the MCU, thanks to co-star Tom Hiddleston:
“Actually, Tom Hiddleston – who of course plays Loki – he kind of – or we kind of – you know, they were almost like the Loki lecturers. And so he, for a couple days, walked me through everything and the whole lore and showing me clips from the other movies and how it all fed into this story.
“So, it was really kind of Tom telling me about it and telling me about his character. And even in the way sometimes that he would describe his character, it was useful for me, because my character Mobius in Loki is kind of interviewing him at some point. So, it kind of worked doing it that way.”
After taking the tesseract and escaping in Avengers: Endgame, Loki finds himself on a wild time-traveling adventure. On his journey, Loki finds himself with the Time Variance Authority organization, and he will be traveling through different periods of time while affecting some important moments of history. He essentially becomes trapped in his own crime thriller.
Joining Hiddleston in the series are Sophia Di Martino (Yesterday, Flowers, Into the Badlands), Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Black Mirror: San Junipero), Cailey Fleming (The Walking Dead), and Richard E. Grant (Can You Ever Forgive Me?) Di Martino is rumored to be playing Lady Loki.
Rick and Morty veteran Michael Waldron is writing the series, which also recently recruited Kate Herron as a director. The series will hit Disney+ in May 2021.
