Owen Wilson to Star in and Executive Produce Untitled Golf Comedy Series at Apple
Academy Award-nominated actor Owen Wilson (The Royal Tenenbaums, Wedding Crashers, Loki) has signed on to star in and executive produce a yet-to-be-titled golf dramedy series at Apple TV+. Ford v Ferrari writer Jason Keller is scripting the series.
Wilson will star as Pryce Cahill, an over-the-hill, ex-pro golfer whose career was derailed prematurely 20 years ago. After he gets fired from his job at an Indiana sporting goods store and his wife walks out on him, Pryce hedges his bets entirely on a troubled 17-year-old golf phenom.
Keller, who has also written movies including Escape Plan and Machine Gun Preacher, created, wrote and executive produced the ten-part series. It will be produced by Apple Studios and directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris.
Wilson is currently working on the crime thriller Lips Like Sugar, set during the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, directed by Brantley Gutierrez.
