Pablo Schreiber Has Been Cast as Master Chief in Showtime's HALO Series
Pablo Schreiber (American Gods, Orange is the New Black) has been cast in the lead role for Showtime’s series adaptation of the popular video game franchise Halo. The actor will play Master Chief.
Master Chief is described as “Earth’s most advanced warrior in the 26th century and the only hope of salvation for a civilization pushed to the brink of destruction by the Covenant, an unstoppable alliance of alien worlds committed to the destruction of humanity.”
Schreiber will be joined by newcomer Yerin Ha, who will play a new character within the Halo world named Quan Ah, “a shrewd, audacious 16-year-old from the Outer Colonies who meets Master Chief at a fateful time for them both.”
I have no idea if Schreiber is the right actor for the role of Master Chief. I’ve enjoyed the work that he has done in the past. Obviously the producers at Showtime, 343 Industries, and producer Steven Spielberg saw something in him, otherwise he wouldn’t have been cast. It’ll be interesting to see how this creative team actually handles this character as they bring him to life.
I’ve been waiting for Halo to get a proper adaptation for years and it’s finally happening. I just hope that it turns out great!
Multiple episodes of the series will be directed by Otto Bathurst (Peaky Blinders) from writer Kyle Killen (Awake) who is also serving as executive producer and showrunner. Production will begin this fall in Budapest, Hungary.
