PACIFIC RIM 2 Casts Unknown Actress Cailee Spaeny as Female Lead
If you're like me, you've never seen an indie film called Counting to 1,000, so you probably haven't heard of actress Cailee Spaeny. But Variety reports that the actress (and pop singer) has been cast as the female lead in the highly-anticipated Pacific Rim 2.
Daredevil showrunner Steven S. DeKnight took over the director's chair from producer Guillermo del Toro, and he's already cast John Boyega (as Stacker Pentecost's [Idris Elba's] son) and Scott Eastwood in major roles. We know Charlie Hunnam won't be back, although del Toro has promised that "a lot of the cast from the first movie is coming back." Other plot and character details are few and far between, so we basically know nothing about who Spaeny will be playing here.
Pacific Rim 2 hits theaters on February 23, 2018.
