Paramount Pictures Looking at Creating a Virtual Reality Movie Theater Experience

Virtual Reality (VR) is still a pretty new thing. It’s been growing for the last few years but is still in its infancy. We constantly hear about new games like Fallout coming to VR or short videos on YouTube such as this IT video.

Now, Paramount Pictures has decided to take it to a new level: Virtual Reality Movie Theaters. These theaters would reportedly just require you to put on your VR headset at home and it would generate the theater around you including other audience members.

It sounds like an interesting idea to me, watch a movie in the “theater” without leaving home sounds great, but I don’t know how I feel about having to wear the headset. I'm the person who doesn't like 3D movies because I have to wear the glasses!

I’m sure that as the tech gets better this idea of a VR movie theater will grow and I have friends that I know would love this idea. If you’re dubious about it or just want to demo it for fun and have a VR headset (any brand will work according to Deadline), you can watch Top Gun in 3D for free on December 3, 2017, by signing onto bigscreenvr.com.

Do you think this is a great idea, or do you think this is the wrong direction for experiencing movies?
