Paramount Sets 2028 Release for Nicolas Cage’s Next LONGLEGS Film
Paramount is already lining up its next eerie ride with an untitled follow-up tied to Longlegs, and it’s bringing Nicolas Cage back into the mix.
The studio confirmed the project will hit theaters on January 14, 2028, landing right in the middle of the lucrative MLK holiday weekend. It’s an early claim on that date, with only an untitled The Walt Disney Company release currently sharing the slot.
The film comes from Osgood Perkins, who will continue to build on the unsettling tone that made the first Longlegs a surprise hit. Details about the story are being kept tightly under wraps for now, but the creative team is locked in.
The MLK weekend has been good to the studio in recent years, with Scream (2022) pulling in $33.8 million over the four-day stretch and Mean Girls (2024) close behind with $33.6 million. Their all-time best for that frame still belongs to Cloverfield (2008), which opened to an impressive $46.1 million.
The first Longlegs made serious noise when it arrived in July 2024. Released by Neon, the film debuted with $22.4 million domestically, marking the distributor’s biggest opening weekend ever. It eventually climbed to $74.3 million in the U.S. and $127.9 million worldwide.
What makes that performance even more impressive is how it was pulled off. Neon rolled out a sharp, inventive marketing campaign that reportedly cost in the high single digits. The result was a full-on cult sensation that caught audiences off guard and stuck around longer than most expected.
Cage returning under Perkins’ direction is a combo that clearly works, and if they can capture the insanity of what made the first film click, January 2028 could get pretty interesting.
