Park Chan-wook, the director behind Oldboy, The Handmaiden, The Little Drummer Girl, and Stoker, is prepping work on his next film project.

He’s been working on developing a number of projects recently with The Brigands of Rattlecreek, which is scripted by S. Craig Zahler, and picked up by Amazon Studios. He was also planning a remake of the Costa-Gavras movie The Ax. But, neither of these films will be his next project.

His next movie is titled The Decision to Break Up and it’s described as a melodrama that will draw from Park Chan-wook’s darker sensibilities. It’s those dark sensibilities that the fans want from the filmmaker. Production is aiming to begin this fall and it will star Park Hae-il (Memories of MurderThe Host) and Tang Wei (Lust, CautionLong Day’s Journey into NightBlackhat),

Those are all the details that we have to share right now, but I’m a fan of Chan-wook’s film work and I’m curious to see how this next film of his turns out. While we wait for more details, enjoy this panel with the director discussing his career.
