Patrick Dempsey Teases "There Has Been a Conversation About" His Return to SCREAM 7 - "I'm Waiting on the Script"
Patrick Dempsey (Grey’s Anatomy) is teasing that he might be involved in the upcoming slasher sequel, Scream 7 where he would reprise his role of Mark Kincaid, which he originated in 2000’s Scream 3, playing a detective investigating the most recent Ghostface murders.
With a seventh installment of the Scream franchise underway, Dempsey confirmed he is in talks to reprise his role, telling The Today Show:
“I’m waiting on the script,” Dempsey said. Dempsey’s Mark survived Ghostface’s attacks in Scream 3, and in 2022’s Scream, it is revealed Neve Campbell’s Sidney Prescott has married and had three children with him. “There has been a conversation about it,” he added. “I haven’t seen anything yet. So, we’ll see what happens.”
Dempsey recalled working with Campbell again on Grey’s Anatomy in Season 9, when she played Derek Shepherd’s sister, Liz.
Al Roker asked Dempsey if he was open to returning to the Scream franchise, to which the actor said, “I mean, you know, it’s always good to have a job.”
Scream 7 is set to open on February 27, 2026, and Kevin Williamson and Neve Campbell will return to the franchise they started in 1996. Williamson created the franchise and will direct the seventh installment, with Guy Busick set to write the script.
