Paul Dano Cast in Steven Spielberg's Upcoming Film as a Character Inspired By His Father
Paul Dano (Love & Mercy, The Batman) is the latest actor to join the cast of Steven Spielberg’s upcoming untitled Amblin film, which is loosely based on the filmmaker’s childhood.
Dano will play a character inspired by Spielberg’s father, which is said to have a separate and original voice. He will join the previously cast Michelle Williams, who is taking on a role inspired by Spielberg’s mom. Seth Rogan also stars in the film as Spielberg’s favorite uncle.
Spielberg is also co-writing the script with Tony Kushner (Munich, Lincoln). This is the first time that Spielberg has worked on a script for a film since 2001’s sci-fi film A.I. It’ll be interesting to see how the iconic filmmaker puts his young life on display in the story he’s looking to tell.
Production on the film starts this summer and is eyeing a 2022 release. Dano will next be seen starring as the Riddler in Matt Reeves’ The Batman.
