Paul Dano Discusses Playing the Riddler in THE BATMAN; Saran Wrap Doesn't Want to Be Associated with the Character
Paul Dano recently appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers and while there he talked a little bit about taking on the role of The Ridder in The Batman. He shares the journey he was on that led him to taking the role and shared some information on what it was like for him to play the character.
He shared that he was more of an X-Men guy when he was younger, but now, as you might expect, he’s all in on Batman. He explained that all throughout the shoot he was reading Batman comics to keep his mind in that world that he was a part of.
Saran Warp was then brought up in the conversation, and it’s funny because the company doesn’t want to have anything to do with The Riddler. Dano explains that he was asked to call it “cling wrap.” Dano said to Meyers:
"I've been asked about what I've taken from the set to remember this job by. And I'm always like, 'Nothing. Nothing. Well, you know, they actually don't want me talking about Saran Wrap, Seth. I think I have to say cling wrap. They don't want to be associated with it."
Myers then joked that he has an endorsement deal with Saran Wrap, and Dano jokingly responded, "Oh you do? Well this is a conflict of interest. They might drop ya after this one." In the film, The Riddler wraps the top of his head in “cling wrap.”
It’s a fun interview, and if you haven’t seen it, it’s definitely worth checking out. So, here ya go!
