Paul McCartney Bringing His Children's Novel HIGH IN THE CLOUDS to Netflix in Animated Feature

Sir Paul McCartney, the Beatle, has co-written a children’s novel alongside Geoff Dunbar and Philip Ardagh called High In The Clouds that they are now bringing to Netflix as an animated film. McCartney is producing and writing and performing songs for the film.

The story “centers on an imaginative teenage squirrel named Wirral who find himself pulled into a ramshackle gang of teenage rebels who live high in the clouds. He accidentally antagonizes Gretsch the owl, the tyrannical leader who steals the voice of anyone who upstages her.”

McCartney said in a statement:

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Netflix,” McCartney said. “They complement what is already an amazing team with Gaumont and we can think of no one better to be working with to bring our film to a global audience. I’ve always loved animated films and this is a hugely important passion project for me. I can’t wait for the world to see it.”

Timothy Reckart (The Star) is directing from a script written by Jon Croker (Paddington 2). This story sounds really good, but honestly, all they had to say was songs by Paul McCartney, and I’d be in. So I’m excited to see what comes from High In The Clouds. What about you?
