Paul Rudd and Jack Black in Talks to Star in ANACONDA Reimagining
Here’s an interesting project being developed at Columbia Pictures. The studio is looking to make a new Anaconda movie, but what makes this project so interesting is the fact that Paul Rudd and Jack Black may end up starring in it.
The two actors are currently in talks to join the movie, which will be directed by Tom Gormican, who previously directed Nicolas Cage in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. He is also is co-writing the film.
According to the report, the new story involves “a group of friends facing mid-life crises who are remaking their favorite movie from their youth. They head to the rainforest only to find themselves in a fight for their lives against natural disasters, giant snakes and violent criminals.”
If cast, one of the actors would play an “erstwhile director, a man stuck in his job as a wedding videographer”, while the other would play an actor who did a stint on a cop show but sees his Hollywood dreams slipping further and further away.”
This actually sounds like it would be a fun movie! The project has been being developed at the studio since early 2023 and has gone through many rewrites, as the director is trying to get the tone right.
The original movie starred Jennifer Lopez, Owen Wilson, Ice Cube and Jon Voight, and followed a National Geographic film crew who is hunting for the world’s largest and deadliest snake, only to find the tables turned.
What do you think about Black and Rudd possibly starring in a new Anaconda movie?
