Paul Rudd Discusses ANT-MAN and Teases His Future Role in the MCU

That last Ant-Man trailer that Marvel released was freakin' fantastic! I knew the movie would be good, but it still looks better than I thought it would be. One of the things I like about it most is the humor behind it.

In a recent interview with MTV, Paul Rudd talks about his excitement for Ant-Man, getting into shape for the part, and how the character fits into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He also says that Ant-Man will be showing up in some upcoming Marvel films. It's a fun interview and definitely worth watching.

When talking about the comedic tone of the film, Rudd says:

“I think that there is, but at the same time, it’s not an out-and-out comedy. There’s a lot of stuff that’s funny, but there’s also a lot of action, and there are relationships that you’ll care about. My hope is people are surprised by it.
“It seems like a tough one to nail down. They released a teaser trailer, and people weren’t really sure what the tone was. They released [a second trailer] and there are a couple of jokes about, ’Should we change the name?’ We understand that people hear ’Ant-Man’ and wonder, ’What is that?’ I think it’s going to be fun to see the reaction.”

When comparing his physique to Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans, he said:

“They’re big. They got bulk. I’m playing a guy who shrinks down to the size of an ant. [Bulk] makes no sense. I’m lean. I’m fairly sinewy. I look like Scott Glenn in ’Urban Cowboy.'”

When talking about how Ant-Man fits in with the MCU and the future of the character, he says:

“It’s a part of the Marvel Universe, but it stands on its own. I think it absolutely fits in, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we see Ant-Man in some other things. That being said, it’s a movie where if you have never seen any of the Marvel movies, you’re going to totally get it.”

As for where we could see Ant-Man pop up next, he teased:

“They’ve said a few things. I know some things. But I don’t know everything.”

He could show up in anything from Captain America: Civil War to Black Panther to Captain Marvel, but I'm confident that he'll definitely show up in Avengers: Infinity War. It's going to be fun to see how this character develops in the MCU. The movie will hit theaters on July 17th. To watch a clip from Ant-Man, click here. Check out the interview below:
