Paul Rudd Reportedly Approached To Reprise His HALLOWEEN 6 Role in HALLOWEEN KILLS

It looks like Paul Rudd was wanted to reprise his role as Tommy Doyle from 1995’s Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Meyers in director David Gordon Green’s Halloween Kills.

Tommy Doyle’s character was originally introduced in the original 1978 film and I guess they have plans to play with the character further, which is great! If the character is used, it will be a new take on the character since every Halloween film between the first one and the latest remake has been disregarded.

Tommy was the kid that Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) was babysitting in Halloween. When he grows up, he is mentally traumatized by his encounter with Michael Meyers on that fateful 1978 Halloween night. The character also popped up in 1988’s Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers, where he was a teenage drug store clerk and he was played by another actor.

The new comes from entertainment reporters and insiders Jeff Snieder and Justin Kroll, who revealed the news on The Sneider Cut podcast. According to the report, Rudd was approached for the role in this new continuity. It was explained:

“They wanted Rudd but they actually just realized he couldn’t do it because of scheduling, I guess, so it sounds like they’re going out to someone else,” Kroll said, admitting the facts surrounding the character and Rudd’s involvement are “a little wary.”

It was also revealed that “two people have made it clear there’s someone else they already asked.” It would have been fun to see Rudd reprise this role, but I guess it wasn’t meant to be. Rudd is a big actor who is keeping busy these days. He’s currently set to star in Jason Reitman’s Ghostbusters 3, who is currently filming in Calgary, Alberta. This is what is keeping him from joining Halloween Kills.

Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer, and Andi Matichak are all set to reprise their roles in the next two Halloween sequels, Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends, which will shoot back to back. Michael Myers actors Nick Castle and James Jude Courtney will reprise their shared role in the sequels.

It would have been great to see Rudd reprise his role, but it’ll still be interesting to see how they play with this characters in the upcoming sequel.

Halloween Kills is set to be released on October 16th, 2020 and Halloween Ends on October 15th, 2021.
