Paul Thomas Anderson Making a Movie Set in 1970 San Fernando Valley High School

Paul Thomas Anderson, director of Punch Drunk Love, There Will Be Blood, and Phantom Thread, is making a new film that brings him back to the San Fernando Valley where he grew up. This movie is set at a southern California high school in the year Anderson was born, 1970.

THR says, “The untitled film will be centered on a high school student who is also a successful child actor.”

Anderson is set to write, direct, and produce the film under his Ghoulardi Film Company banner. Anderson and his team are currently working on casting the feature, and the film is set to begin shooting in February, 2020.

I enjoy many of the films that Anderson makes, and I grew up in Southern California, so I am partial to films in that setting. I’m interested in hearing more about this story. How about you?
