Paul Walter Hauser Says He Would Love to Play Chris Farley in a Biopic, But His Window for Making the Project Is Closing

Actor Paul Walter Hauser has taken Hollywood by storm, choosing projects to highlight his incredible acting skills like I, Tonya, BlacKkKlansman, Richard Jewell, Da 5 Bloods, Cobra Kai, and his Golden Globe-winning performance in the intense limited drama series Black Bird. He is getting his fair share of offers as he moves forward in the industry, and he has some ideas of who he would like to play, but they don’t come without complications.

In a 2021 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Hauser explained that he would love to play comedian and actor Chris Farley in a biopic about his life, and he has a great idea for the story, but he believes the window for making that movie is closing.

“I wanted to do a Chris Farley movie where he’s in rehab for half of the film, and for the other half of the movie, he’s doing his SNL stuff and his movies. I think I have a really great take on that story, but I’m trying to lose weight and I’m trying to redefine myself as a person of healthy choice-making, and as an actor. So the days of doing Fatty Arbuckle, Chris Farley or Ignatius J. Reilly in a Confederacy of Dunces movie have a very small time window, and it’s getting smaller by the week.”

This was almost two years ago, and I think because Hauser has been in so many movies and series since this interview, he hasn’t been able to change his appearance, contractually. So it seems as though the window is still open. However, Farley passed away when he was 33, and Hauser will turn 37 this year. He does have a youthful look, but there are probably only a few more years he would be able to pull it off.

I’d love to see this happen. I think Paul Walter Hauser is an amazing actor, and he is going to go on to do incredible projects. He is currently working on the Doug Liman-directed film The Instigators, in which he will star alongside Hong Chau, Matt Damon, and Casey Affleck.
