Peacock Releases New Trailer for Sequel Movie and TV Spin-Off MEGAMIND VS. THE DOOM SYNDICATE
Peacock has released a new trailer for the upcoming movie sequel, Megamind Vs. The Doom Syndicate, which also mentions the film’s spin-off series, Megamind Rules!. The film and series come as sequel stories to the 2010 movie Megamind, which featured an all-star cast that included Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill, Tina Fey, Ben Stiller, David Cross, and Justin Theroux. None of those stars are back for these upcoming projects, and the characters are instead voiced by Keith Ferguson as Megamind, Laura Post as Roxanne Ritchi, Josh Brener as Ol' Chum, Maya Aoki Tuttle as Keiko Morita, Emily Tunon as Lady Doppler, Talon Warburton as Lord Nighty-Knight, Scott Adsit as Pierre Pressure, Chris Sullivan, Tony Hale, and Adam Lambert.
The synopsis for the film, which will be released first, reads:
Megamind is back and more heroic than ever! The new movie, Megamind vs. The Doom Syndicate and the all new series Megamind Rules! is streaming March 1st! The second movie will follow Megamind as he traverses life as a hero, takes on a young crime-fighting apprentice, and fights against the new evil: his former group, the Doom Syndicate.
The first movie wasn’t bad. It was cute at the time, but it wasn’t one that my kids have continued to return to. So it’s pretty strange that this is the franchise Peacock is looking to hang its hat on. I understand going back to a super successful movie of the past that people have loved and responded to over a long period of time, but I don’t feel like this is it. And the trailer is pretty lack-luster. I don’t think this movie or series is going to really take off, but maybe there’s an audience out there I’m just unaware of. Check out the trailer for yourself below, and watch Megamind Vs. The Doom Syndicate as well as Megamind Rules! on Peacock on March 1st.
