Pedro Pascal Confirms He's Mostly Just Voicing Din Djarin in THE MANDLAORIAN Now
In the first season of The Mandalorian, Pedro Pascal was involved with it as much as possible and was putting on the armor and actually being a part of the on-set production process. As the series continued, Pascal started to step back more and more.
Now, in a recent interview with THR, the actor confirmed that these days, he’s mostly just providing the voice for Din Djarin, which is basically what a lot of fans assumed anyway. The character is mostly played now on set by Brendan Wayne, John Wayne’s son, and Lateef Crowder, who handles a lot of the stunt work.
When the actor was asked if his work in The Mandalorian can just be voiceover, he replied "For a lot of it, yeah." The actor went on to explain how his reduced on-set workload came to be, saying:
"There was an extended amount of experimentation, being in the suit for a lot of it, and frankly, my body wasn't up for the task as far as, like, the four months of it. But I was in it. I was in it a significant amount, an elastic amount [he pretends to tug at his neck, where the suit would chafe]. But now we've figured it out, which is super cool, and amazingly, it gave me the opportunity to be able to go and do something else."
Which was obviously HBO's The Last of Us, and it also allows him the freedom to take on more projects. I get that it allows him the freedom to do that stuff, but if it was me, I sure would love to be on the set of the Star Wars series as much as possible! That’s gotta be such a cool experience! I’m sure Pascal has an open invitation to come by the set anytime he wants though.
