Pedro Pascal Wants to Keep Playing The Mandalorian for as Long as Possible
There’s no slowing down the galaxy’s most dedicated bounty hunter. Pedro Pascal has made it clear that stepping away from Din Djarin isn’t on his radar anytime soon.
As The Mandalorian continues evolving from streaming hit to theatrical event, Pascal is more than ready to stick with the role, even if it means sharing the workload in a very literal way.
At a recent Q&A in London, Pascal reflected on just how much the character has become a part of his career. After first appearing in 2019, Din Djarin has turned into his longest-running role, and it’s one he clearly isn’t ready to let go of.
"I'm completely grateful. It's the longest creative relationship I've had, it's the character that I've played the longest," Pascal said. "Hopefully I get to continue playing him for as long as my body, or as many bodies as we put into the suit, can take it."
Fans know Pascal doesn’t spend every moment physically inside the armor, with stunt performers often stepping in while he provides the voice and performance. Still, the connection he has to the character is stroong.
Now that The Mandalorian and Grogu is heading to theaters, things are leveling up in a big way. This marks the first time Din Djarin’s story jumps from Disney+ to the big screen, and the cast coming along for the ride is pretty wild. Sigourney Weaver joins as New Republic Colonel Ward, while Jeremy Allen White takes on Rotta the Hutt, the son of Jabba.
And then there’s an unexpected addition of Martin Scorsese, who pops in with a voice cameo as an Ardennian food truck owner.
Story-wise, the film pulls Din Djarin and Grogu into a new mission tied to the New Republic. They’re tasked with rescuing Rotta the Hutt, with the promise of valuable intel from the Hutt clan about a mysterious target. It sounds like the kind of setup that mixes classic Star Wars underworld chaos with the character-driven moments fans love.
With The Mandalorian already cemented as one of the most popular corners of Star Wars, the jump to theaters is exciting. And if Pascal has his way, Din Djarin’s journey is far from over.
The Mandalorian and Grogu hits theaters on May 22.
