PET SEMETARY: BLOODLINES Featurette Delves into the Story's Origin and Offers Creepy Insight

A new behind the scenes featurette has surfaced for the upcoming horror thriller Pet Sematary: Bloodlines, which is a prequel to Stephen King’s classic terrifying story, Pet Sematary, and it tells the untold of Jed Crandal.

We’ve got a new behind-the-scenes featurette to share with you today that features the cast and crew talking about the film and the creepy origin story that it delivers. That includes writer and director Lindsey Anderson Beer and producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian, along with cast members Jackson White, Henry Thomas, Isabella Star LaBlanc, and David Duchovny offering insight into the movie.

The story is set In 1969, and young Jud Crandall who “has dreams of leaving his hometown of Ludlow, Maine behind, but soon discovers sinister secrets buried within and is forced to confront a dark family history that will forever keep him connected to Ludlow. Banding together, Jud and his childhood friends must fight an ancient evil that has gripped Ludlow since its founding, and once unearthed has the power to destroy everything in its path.”

It’s explained in the video that the film goes into more depth into the founding of the town in the story, Ludlow, and the origins of the actual Pet Semetary. It’s something that the town has been battling for generations. The story was inspired by a section of the book that focused on a character named Timmy Baterman, who brought his son back to life. That story was terrifying, and now it’s being brought to life in this movie.

Jud’s backstory is something I’ve actually been very interested in and I like that this film is going to tell his story. There are a lot of stories to tell in Pet Sematary lore, and I’m curious to see how this one plays out. Judging from the trailer, the movie looks like it’ll be good!

Pet Sematary: Bloodlines will premiere Friday, October 6th, exclusively on Paramount+.
