Pete Davidson and Judd Apatow Announce Film KING OF STATEN ISLAND Is Being Released on VOD for Viewing This Summer
We finally have some news regarding the previously untitled film from Judd Apatow (Freaks and Geeks, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Crashing), and Pete Davidson. The film is called The King of Staten Island, and it was set to hit theaters on June 19th, but we can now expect to see the film from the comfort of our homes on VOD beginning a week early, on June 12th.
The King of Staten Island is “a semi-autobiographical comedy-drama about Pete Davidson growing up in Staten Island, including losing his father during 9/11 and entering the world of stand up comedy.” It was co-written by Davidson and Apatow, along with SNL writer David Sirus. The film was set to premiere at SXSW with screenings at Tribeca Film Festival, but with all of that canceled, and theatres unsure about what the future looks like, at least we can look forward to seeing it in our homes.
The film stars Davidson, as well as Marisa Tomei, Pamela Adlon, Machine Gun Kelly, Steve Buscemi, Bel Powley, Maude Apatow, Bill Burr, Moises Arias, Kevin Corrigan, and Jimmy Tatro.
Check out the fun conversation between Apatow and Davidson below, announcing the new release of the film, and let us know if you’re stoked to see it on June 12.
