Dwayne Johnson wasn't the ultra-superstar that he is now when he starred in Peter Berg's The Rundown with Seann William Scott. At that point, I think the biggest film Johnson had under his belt was The Scorpion King. It's crazy to see how far his career has gone since then because now he's the highest paid actor in Hollywood.
Now that he's such a big star, Berg would love to make The Rundown 2 and he would like to throw Jonah Hill in there to star alongside Johnson. During an interview with Collider, Berg was asked about the possibility of a sequel to The Rundown and this is what he had to say:
"We’ve been talking about it. You know, I wanted to do it with Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson. If I could get Jonah Hill, I’d do it tomorrow. If I could get Dwayne and Jonah Hill, I’d do it tomorrow."
When asked if this was actually possible, the director said:
"Anything’s possible. We want to do it, it’s just hard to get everybody, you know. It’s on our minds. We actually wrote a script. But I want Jonah Hill, so reach out to Jonah. Pressure Jonah to do it. If Jonah Hill would do it, I’m in."
The Rundown was a lot of fun. It's an action comedy that follows a tough aspiring chef who is hired to bring home a mobster's son from the Amazon. In the process, he becomes involved in the fight against an oppressive town operator and the search for a legendary treasure.
There are a lot of possibilities of what the sequel could be, but it would be a blast to see Hill and Johnson doing some kind of crazy action movie together. I guess we'll just have to wait and see if it happens. Would you be down for watching a sequel to The Rundown?
