Peter Dinklage Jumps on Board FX’s ALIEN: EARTH Season 2

Things just got a whole lot more interesting in the world of xenomorphs. FX’s Alien: Earth is leveling up for Season 2 with a major casting move, bringing in Peter Dinklage as a series regular. The Emmy-winning powerhouse is officially stepping into Noah Hawley’s sci-fi sandbox, and it’s a seriously exciting addition.

Details on who Dinklage will play are being kept under wraps, but dropping someone like him into the mix should be interesting.

This also marks a bit of a homecoming. Dinklage previously worked with FX on Nip/Tuck and more recently popped up in The Lowdown. Now he’s back in a much bigger role.

Alien: Earth Season 1 was pretty great, and it centers on a humanoid robot named Wendy, played by Sydney Chandler. Season 1’s cast includes Alex Lawther, Timothy Olyphant, Essie Davis, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay, David Rysdahl, Adrian Edmondson, Adarsh Gourav, Jonathan Ajayi, Erana James, Lily Newmark, Diem Camille, and Moe Bar-El.

Season 2 is gearing up to begin production this May at Pinewood Studios in London, a location that carries some serious franchise history. It’s the same studio where the original Alien, Alien 3, and Prometheus were brought to life.

Season 1, on the other hand, was filmed in Thailand, so the shift in location adds another layer of connection to the franchise’s roots.

The show is created and executive produced by Noah Hawley, the mind behind Fargo, with Ridley Scott also on board as an executive producer.

Dinklage has been staying busy. He’s a four-time Emmy winner for Game of Thrones and recently appeared in Dexter: Resurrection. He also had two films premiere at Sundance earlier this year, Wicker and Idiots, showing he’s still taking on a wide range of projects.

Bringing Dinklage into Alien: Earth is a smart move that could add some real weight to the series. It’ll be interesting to see who he’ll end up playing.
