Peter Dinklage Set to Star in Legendary's THE TOXIC AVENGER Movie
Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage is set to stat in Legendary Picture’s The Toxic Avenger movie. It’s looking like Dinklage will take on the title role, which is sure to be a very different and interesting role for the actor, one that I’m sure he will have a lot of fun with.
Actor Macon Blair (Blue Ruin, Green Room) is set to direct their reboot of the ‘80s cult classic. The original film told the story of a bullied janitor who becomes a mutant superhero after falling into a vat of toxic waste and transforms into a radioactive hero.
This new film is said to be a “contemporary reimagining” of Troma Entertainment’s low-budget action-comedy. “The Toxic Avenger is steeped in environmental themes and subverts the superhero genre in the vein of Deadpool. When a struggling everyman is pushed into a vat of toxic waste, he is transformed into a mutant freak who must go from shunned outcast to underdog hero as he races to save his son, his friends and his community from the forces of corruption and greed.”
Over the years, there have been reports that Arnold Schwarzenegger was offered a role in the film back in 2013. John Travolta was even rumored to be up for a role at one point. Kevin Smith also previously talked about how he was offered the opportunity to direct the reboot but ended up dropping out over budget issues.
What are your thoughts on Dinklage starring in the new Toxic Avenger film?
