These Amazing Costumes Are Created From Recycled Materials

Peter Kokis is a performance artist and his art is incredible. He lives in Brooklyn, NY and makes amazing robot-like exoskeleton costumes out of 100% recycled materials. That’s right, he finds trash to use in his costumes and the results are amazing.

Of course, this means his costumes are really heavy. Reaching up to about 170 pounds per costume, Kokis must be pretty strong, and he has to get used to the heat. Aaron and Alex Craig made a small documentary about Kokis called One Man’s Trash for The Atlantic and they said his apartment gets up to 120 degrees. That’s because Kokis doesn’t use air conditioning to acclimate his body to the high temperatures he will deal with in his costumes.

Check out the video below. These costumes are incredible.

There's nothing, it would seem, that Peter Kokis can't turn into a robot. The Brooklyn performance artist makes cyborgs out of 100 percent recycled materials-oftentimes salvaged from the trash. He builds the 170-pound costumes on his kitchen table. When he's done, Kokis parades through the streets, a veritable Transformer among mortals.
