Phil Lord and Chris Miller Are Developing a Bear-Driven Horror Comedy... with Heart
Phil Lord and Chris Miller (The LEGO Movie, 21 Jumo Street, Spider-Man Into The Spider-Verse) are developing an interesting sounding new film that is described as “a unique bear-driven horror-comedy — with heart.” To sweeten the pot, they have also teamed up with Radio Silence on the project, which is the same team that gave us the incredibly entertaining horror-comedy Ready or Not.
The untitled project is set up at Universal Pictures, who picked up a spec script written by Jimmy Warden. This is the first big film project for Warden, who worked as a production assistant for Lord and Miller on 21 Jump Street.
According to THR, “the project was being pitched as a cross between Good Boys — Universal's raunchy but sweet feature about three 10-year-olds on an adult adventure — and The Revenant — the Oscar-winning gritty survival tale that starred Leonardo DiCaprio as a fur trapper who, at one point, was mauled by a Grizzly bear.”
Yeah, so that’s going to make for an interesting film! A cross between Good Boys and The Revenant!? I’m not even sure what a movie like that looks like! It seems ridiculous, but it has my attention and I’m curious to see what comes of it.
