Photo From The BUMBLEBEE Movie Shows Hailee Steinfeld with The Yellow VW Bug
I'm not really a big fan of Michael Bay's Transformers franchise. The movies just seemed to get worse and worse as time went on. But, I do have a little hope that this Bumblebee spinoff film will be good. Right off the bat, there are four things about it that get me excited.
The director of Kubo and the Two Strings, Travis Knight, is helming the movie. I loved Kubo and I hope he can bring that magic to Bumblebee. The movie also stars Hailee Steinfeld, who is talented young actress. Finally, the movie is set in the 80s and Bumblebee is actually going to be a VW bug. This could actually work.
Today we have a cool new photo from the film giving us our first look at Hailee Steinfeld standing with Bumblebee. While talking about his approach to the film with Empire (via CBM), director Travis Knight said:
"I wanted to approach this massive, expansive franchise and really focus in on a tiny corner of the canvas. Everything I've tried to do at Laika, searching for an artful blend of darkness and light, intensity and warmth, humour and heart, I wanted to bring to the Transformers franchise.
"At its core it's just a beautiful love story between two broken souls who find each other and heal each other. I grew up loving those classic Spielbergian Amblin films. And we're trying to evoke that kind of emotion in this movie, fusing a rich coming-of-age story with some sci-fi insanity."
I love the direction that he is looking to take with the tone of the film and I really hope that he pulls it off. There's actually a chance that this could be the best Transformers movie yet!
