Photo of Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn Wearing a Wedding Dress in The David Ayer Cut of SUICIDE SQUAD
Director David Ayer had a very different vision of Suicide Squad than the one that ended up being released in theaters. He had his cut of the film, but the one we got was the cut Warner Bros. wanted. It’s been explained in the past that Ayer’s original cut was "ripped to pieces" by studio executives.
While DC fans would love to see this original cut of the film, it’ll most likely never happen. Regardless, bits and pieces of the Ayer Cut have been leaking out online and today we have a new photo from the set that features Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn decked out in a wedding dress.
Military costume supervisor Owen Thornton took to Instagram to share the photo and make a note that the image came from a version of the film that Ayer had initially hoped to share with audiences. The photo came with the following note:
"Harlequin played by the one and only Margot Robbie. Harley wore her Wedding dress during the Los Angeles pick-up shots and it was fun to dust it in the traditional colors of red and blue. Of course Suicide Squad holds many secrets hidden inside the Ayer cut….. This being one of them."
I would have loved to see this original version of the movie!
