Pinhead Will Be Played by Jamie Clayton in New HELLRAISER Movie; Clive Barker Producing
Here’s an interesting bit of horror movie news for all you horror hounds out there. A new Hellraiser movie is in development and the iconic nightmarish character Pinhead will be played by Jamie Clayton, one of the stars of The L Word: Generation Q. This is obviously a very different direction for the franchise with Pinhead being played by a woman.
Spyglass is producing the film, and it’s described as a “loyal, yet evolved reimagining” of the movie that is based on Clive Barker’s novella The Hellbound Heart.
The story is about a puzzle box that opens a gateway to a horrific world run by Cenobites, mutilated beings dedicated to torture and led by the hellish Pinhead.
I have no problems with Pinhead being played by a woman. Some of girls that I dated are some of the most evil people I know, so for me Pinhead being a woman makes complete sense.
It was also announced that Clive Barker has recently boarded the project as a producer alongside David S. Goyer. Barker seems very happy with the reboot saying:
“Having seen some of the designs from David Bruckner’s new Hellraiser film, they pay homage to what the first film created, but then take it to places it’s never been before. This is a Hellraiser on a scale that I simply didn’t expect. David and his team are steeped in the story’s mythology, but what excites me is their desire to honour the original even as they revolutionize it for a new generation.”
David Bruckner (The Night House) is directing from a screenplay by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski with story that was created by Goyer.
The movie also stars Brandon Flynn (13 Reasons Why), Goran Visnjic (The Boys), Drew Starkey (Outer Banks), Adam Faison (Everything’s Gonna Be Okay), Aoife Hinds (Normal People), Hiam Abbass (Succession), and Selina Lo (Boss Level).
The film project already wrapped production, but all of these details were recently revealed. Hellraiser will debut on Hulu sometime in 2022.
