Pixar Announces MONSTERS INC. 3 in Early Development; INCREDIBLES 3 Gets 2028 Release + COCO 2 in 2029

Pixar has made some major announcements this week, firming up plans for a bunch of long-awaited sequels that should have fans pretty excited. Monsters Inc. 3 is in early development at the studio, as well as the studio’s first ever musical from Turning Red filmmaker Domee Shi. In addition, an initially conceived streaming series Ono Ghost Market, inspired by Asian myths about supernatural bazaars, is being turned into a feature.

Incredibles 3 is also in the works, heading for a 2028 release, with Coco 2 looking at a 2029 release. There’s no release date for a Pixar film in Comscore, however, Disney has March 10th and June 16th on hold in 2028.

Incredibles 3 was first announced at D23 in August 2024. Brad Bird is returning to write the screenplay and produce and Elemental filmmaker Peter Sohn is directing. The other projects are early in development, and haven’t nailed down writers/directors yet. Stay tuned and we will keep you informed.
