Fun Trailer For WAKE UP DEADMAN: A KNIVES OUT MYSTERY Teases a Murder Mystery Wrapped in Religion and Death

Detective Benoit Blanc is back, and this time his sharp Southern drawl is cutting through a mystery that questions both death and God.

Netflix just released the first trailer for Rian Johnson’s Wake Up Dead Man: A KNnves Out Mystery, the third chapter in the Knives Out saga, and it looks like Blanc is facing his most mind-bending case yet.

This new mystery begins with a sudden, seemingly impossible murder that rattles a quiet town. With no suspects in sight, the police chief, Geraldine Scott (Mila Kunis), enlists Blanc’s help. What follows is a strange unraveling of secrets that pits logic against faith.

One of the most interesting characters is priest Jud Duplenticy, played by Josh O’Connor, who arrives to aid Monsignor Jefferson Wicks, portrayed by Josh Brolin.

They are surrounded by an ensemble cast of suspects that includes devout churchgoer Martha Delacroix (Glenn Close), groundskeeper Samson Holt (Thomas Haden Church), lawyer Vera Draven (Kerry Washington), ambitious politician Cy Draven (Daryl McCormack), town doctor Nat Sharp (Jeremy Renner), concert cellist Simone Vivane (Cailee Spaeny), and novelist Lee Ross (Andrew Scott).

Audiences can expect plenty of layered personalities, motives, and red herrings. And, of course, Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc at the center, piecing together a crime that seems to defy reason.

Wake Up Dead Man looks like it’s taking the Knives Out series into iinteresting new territory, weaving together murder mystery intrigue with existential themes.

The film will hit select theaters on November 26 for a two-week run before landing on Netflix December 12. Johnson has made it clear he wishes the theatrical window was longer, telling Business Insider:

“We’re going to push for everything we can get in terms of theatrical, because I want as many people as possible to see it in that form.”
