Here’s something you may have never heard, seen, or played before. It’s a game from 1996 from Knowledge Adventure and Dreamworks titled Steven Spielberg’s Director’s Chair.
The game is a Steven Spielberg-led tutorial on filmmaking. It takes you through the process of directing a film and at the end, there’s a short film that you watch that’s filled with various stylistic choices that were designed to put the lessons into practice.
There’s an all-star cast that was involved with the project that included Quentin Tarantino, Jennifer Aniston, and Penn & Teller. In 1996, Knowledge Adventure and Dreamworks published Steven Spielberg's Director's Chair, an ambitious game simulating the process of moviemaking. The centerpiece of the title was a short film with an all star cast directed by Steven Spielberg himself.
Since the player could take some crucial decisions in the pre-production phase, the film was shot with different plot points and tonal variants.

The plot for the game centers around a man (Tarantino) who is imprisoned for a crime he may or may not have committed and it follows his girlfriend’s (Aniston) attempts to uncover the truth. Penn and Teller play a pair of shady magicians.
This thing is as 90s as you can get and I love it! It’s awesome to see a long-lost Steven Spielberg project restored and brought back for a whole new generation to enjoy in 2020. Hell, I’m sure for many of you this is the first time that you’ve even heard of the game!
