FINALLY! The event we’ve been waiting for; an event that will be showcasing games that we can expect to play this holiday. This gameplay reveal event is set to be about an hour-long starting at 1 PM PDT and is said to have large and small, newer, and more experienced studios in the event.
To set expectations, the official blog post didn’t mention a reveal of the console itself, controller usage, price, or other details, just games. But we can expect a bunch of great gameplay! This could possibly include more coverage of Godfall, Outriders, or Watchdogs: Legion. But hopefully, it will have mostly new games that are confirmed to be part of the initial release lineup. I wouldn’t be surprised if we also saw at least one or two games like the Last of Us Part II, Destiny 2, or Cyberpunk 2077 running on a Playstation 5 with enhanced graphics and loading times.
Also, a quick side note, the controller in the promotions is black instead of the white one originally revealed. Does this mean we expect a white and black version of the console or controller during launch? This could also mean that we get a lot of gameplay videos with the actual controller in hand, but we’ll just have to wait till the 4th to see!
I am very excited, but with a big, fat grain of salt. We have been getting great State of Play videos the last few weeks and teases here or there, but until The Last of Us Part II is released, the shift in focus to the PS5 won’t probably won’t fully happen. Let us know what games you’re excited to see, and what new titles you’d love to be able to play this holiday season!
