POKEMON GO and POKEMON TCG are Colliding This Summer
Pokémon GO is getting inspired by the Pokémon Trading Card Game in the latter half of the month. From June 16-30, Pokémon GO players will be able to find Pikachu wearing a hat themed after the Pokémon TCG, encounter Mewtwo in 5-star raids, and catch Wimpod and Golisopod (one of my favorite Gen VII Pokémon) for the first time. The event is in celebration of the upcoming Pokémon GO expansion launching for the Pokémon TCG on July 1 at participating retailers. In the expansion, trainers will be able to collect the same Pikachu, but in card form; Mewtwo V with special artwork; and both Wimpod and Golisopod.
In addition, some Pokémon TCG: Pokémon GO products will have promotional codes you can redeem for in-game items like a hat and T-shirt in Pokémon GO. These codes will be valid from July 17, 2022-July 31, 2024 on Niantic’s site. Oh, and shiny variants of Blastoise, Charizard, and Venusaur will be available in the expansion as Radiant Blastoise, Radiant Charizard, and Radiant Venusaur.
