POKEMON SWORD and SHIELD Devs Talk About the Galar Region and the Starters

Game Informer got the chance to talk to Shigeru Ohmori, Junichi Masuda, and James Turner about Pokémon Sword and Shield. Among those talks, the three game developers talked about the starter Pokémon for Generation 8 as well as the inspiration behind the Galar region.

Unfortunately, the talks about the starters is more about their personalities and any attempt at getting information about their evolutions is quickly shot down. For their personalities, it basically breaks down into Grookey is fun and happy, Scorbunny is energetic and mischievous, and Sobble’s depressed.

In addition, Turner talked about his experience being brought onto the Sword and Shield team and helping design the Galar region. Turner is from the UK and he wanted to make sure the game felt familiar to people from that part of the world.

I am excited for Sword and Shield to launch on Nintendo Switch on November 15.
